Maximilian Schachmann (Bora-Hansgrohe), 3rd in the 2019 Liège-Bastogne-Liège: “I’m super happy to have been in front in the Amstel, La Flèche, and Liège. They’re very hard races and I’m delighted to take third here because it’s the most prestigious. I think Fuglsang deserves his win with the way he raced. I couldn’t follow him in the climb but (Davide) Formolo did. Then I did my race at the back. And I was happy to follow riders like Woods, Nibali, Yates… Everybody can imagine it was pretty extreme today. The temperature dropped to 3 degrees, it rained for hours… Sometimes you’re just shaking because you’re frozen. It was a nice race with lots of things happening far from the finish. I don’t know if I can win here some day, I hope so. Maybe it’s the best year in my career.. These races suit me but you never know what will happen in the future. For the moment, I just enjoy.”
